Sherwood Forest is located West of Twin Peaks, on the southwest slope of Mount Davidson, and is themed around the folklore of Robin Hood. Throughout the neighborhood you’ll find street names such as Lansdale, Dalewood, and of course Robinhood—San Francisco’s highest residential street still decorated with its original globe streetlights.

This small, three-by-two block community of about 200 homes is nestled among trees planted by Adolph Sutro and above the prestigious St. Francis Wood neighborhood. Over the years it earned the nickname “Pill Hill,” due to the many doctors that live here. Custom homes dating back to the 1930s can be found throughout Sherwood Forest. Many of these homes were designed by notable architects like Julia Morgan, Timothy and Milton Pflueger, and Harold G. Stoner, resting on some of the largest lots in the City and boasting panoramic ocean views from the hilltops.

A fun political fact: Sherwood Forest was home to two former Mayors of San Francisco. Mayor John Shelley built a mansion on Robinhood Drive, while Mayor George Moscone lived at 90 Lansdale.
