McLaren Park, one of the city's largest, forms the connection between these three adjacent neighborhoods. Excelsior borders the park on the east, Visitacion Valley is due south and Portola District lies to the north. The area claims a strong Italian influence in its roots, and today's population reflects a pleasing diversity of income levels and cultural backgrounds. Many of the homes are at least 50 years old.
